Authorities in Binh Thuan Province have mapped out programs for the Mid-Autumn Festival 2009 which will take place October 2-3 (the fourteenth and fifteenth days of lunar August) for children in the coastal city of Phan Thiet.

The opening ceremony at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square will be geared toward 4,000 local school children. The festive nights will feature lantern parades stretching out for a distance of 2,900 meters through Nguyen Tat Thanh, Ton Duc Thang, Thu Khoa Huan, Tran Hung Dao and Nguyen Du streets as well as lantern contests with awards for the most beautiful lanterns.

*In response to ‘World Tourism Day’, September 27, under the theme ‘Tourism with Diversity’, authorities in the coastal province of Binh Thuan will organize a series of activities calling locals to keep the environment clean and fresh and the image of the province friendly and attractive.

The program will feature a meeting at Ham Tien-Mui Ne tourist area on Saturday and a campaign of environmental clean up on beaches and at tourist areas with the participation of students and local residents.

The program includes a workshop on methods of sustainable tourism development and environment protection and a photo exhibition on the best destinations of the province.
